Manchester City have reportedly approached Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, a year after Pep Guardiola rejected a swap deal involving the Italian shot-stopper. According to reports, City are concerned about the future of current number one Ederson, who is attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr.
In June 2023, PSG offered Donnarumma and Marco Verratti in exchange for City midfielder Bernardo Silva. Guardiola intervened to block the move, valuing Silva's contribution over the acquisition of a new goalkeeper. Now, with Ederson's situation uncertain, City have made an approach for the 25-year-old Italian.
Donnarumma joined PSG on a free transfer after winning Euro 2020 with Italy. He has won three Ligue 1 titles and the 2024 French Cup at the Parc des Princes. His current contract runs until June 2026, and he has begun preliminary talks about an extension, though he is intrigued by the prospect of playing in the Premier League.
If Ederson departs, Guardiola could turn to backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, who impressed last season, particularly in City's run to the FA Cup final and crucial Premier League matches.
