Man City fans want £70m for Rodri after Barcelona bid

Barcelona are stepping up their efforts to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri this summer, with the Catalan club already having had one bid rejected.

The 30-year-old is one of City's key players and his stock has risen since the end of the season, after guiding Spain to World Cup glory. Rodri also won the Golden Boot after a superb tournament.

Barcelona prepare new offer

Real Madrid's long-term interest in Rodri has softened in recent weeks and Barcelona are now pushing for his signature. Their first bid was rejected by City after it fell well short of their valuation.

It is now understood Barca are preparing another offer of £55m, plus £5m add-ons. However, City are holding out for at least £70m after previously saying they wanted at least £60m.

Fans have their say

Recently, MEN Sport posed the question: 'Should Man City demand more than £60m for Rodri?' to our City readers.

At the time of writing, 1,743 responses have been received with a whopping 74 per cent voting: 'Yes - he's just been named the best player at the World Cup'.

A mere 24 per cent voted: 'No - he's in the last year of his contract and wants to go', while two per cent were unsure.

City's stance

City are comfortable with the situation and are happy to keep him at the Etihad Stadium, even if it means he leaves for free next year.
