Liverpool have made an enquiry for Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr as the Reds look to strengthen their attack before the summer transfer window closes. No formal bid has been submitted yet, according to David Ornstein.
The Reds have already agreed a deal to sign Bradley Barcola but are keen to add a right-sided attacker and secure a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. Bids for Brighton and Hove Albion's Yankuba Minteh have been knocked back, with Sarr now emerging as a fresh target.
Gakpo's future at the centre of transfer plans
The interest in Sarr comes amid growing speculation over the future of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur both reportedly keen on the Dutch international. Ornstein told TNT Sports that Gakpo has a big decision to make, with three viable options on the table.
"Potentially. Cody has a big decision to make because he's got three very good options. He either stays at Liverpool, where he'll be a great asset - already has been so far," Ornstein said.
"He moves to Manchester City, their interest is genuine. Or he goes to Tottenham, and they've been pursuing him - it's been a bit more high-profile - for some time. Pros and cons to all of those options."
No bid yet for Sarr
Ornstein confirmed that Liverpool have made an enquiry for Sarr but have not yet submitted a bid. "There's been an enquiry but no bid at this point, so it's a live situation and big calls need to be made in the coming days," he said.
If Gakpo stays, Liverpool are likely to pause their pursuit of a right-sided attacker, as they would already have four wingers in the squad. If he leaves, the club will look to execute a deal for that position.
Iraola hopeful of new signing
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Andoni Iraola said the club are actively trying to sign a winger. "As you know, we are trying to sign in that position and also, as you know, we cannot talk about players that right now are not ours," he said.
"But it's evident that we are trying to improve or try to fill that position because we don't have the numbers. I hope we can have good news soon but we are still not there."
