Liverpool have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Yan Diomande, with the RB Leipzig winger opting to join Real Madrid instead. The 19-year-old Ivorian forward has been the subject of intense interest from several European giants this summer, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
Real Madrid agree deal
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle with Leipzig for Diomande, who had previously agreed personal terms with PSG. Both Liverpool and Real had bids of €100m rejected by the Bundesliga side earlier in the window.
Now, Real have submitted a bid worth more than that, with reports suggesting the fee could reach €120m. The winger is expected to sign a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the move unrelated to ongoing speculation about Vinicius Junior's future. Arsenal are reportedly considering Vinicius as a potential target.
Liverpool switch focus
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has emphasised the need for a new wide man, forcing the club to look elsewhere. Their new primary target is PSG winger Bradley Barcola, who is unlikely to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
