Quinton Fortune believes Nicolas Jackson would be a good signing for Everton, rather than Chelsea team-mate Liam Delap. The former Premier League winner says the Blues need a striker and Jackson needs regular football.
Fortune's Verdict on Jackson
Jackson, 25, scored eight goals in 23 league games while on loan at Bayern Munich, helping them win the Bundesliga, plus three in the Champions League. He has returned to Stamford Bridge and could move this summer.
Fortune told Premier Bet: “Nicolas Jackson just needs to move to a club where he will play every week. He needs to play. Everton need a striker and David Moyes has a great eye for a player and a great understanding of what his teams need. If Nicolas Jackson gets the opportunity to play for Moyes, he must take it. He’d be very fortunate because Moyes is a good manager with good experience, and he’d get his chance at Everton.”
Jackson's Chelsea Struggles
Since joining from Villarreal three years ago, Jackson has struggled to secure a starting spot. He scored 17 goals in his first season, which included a heated penalty debate during a 6-0 win over Everton, where he lost the argument to Cole Palmer.
He added 13 goals the following season but fell down the order after signings like Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, whom Everton wanted and Moyes still likes. Chelsea have also added Danny Welbeck this summer.
Potential Everton Move
At Everton, Jackson would link up with Senegal team-mate Iliman Ndiaye but face competition from Thierno Barry, another ex-Villarreal forward enjoying a positive pre-season.
Fortune added: “Strikers want to score goals, regardless of who they are playing for, but I hope he finds the right club because that will give him confidence he’s part of the team and the goals will follow, and I’m sure there will be many more clubs than Everton out there trying to get his signature.”
