Steve Jones' Each-Way Horse Racing Tips for Saturday on ITV
Each-Way Tips from Steve Jones for Saturday ITV Races

Our each-way ace Steve Jones has analysed the televised races from York and offers three recommendations for armchair punters, including one in the feature sprint.

Chicago Pope in the Churchill Tyres Supporting Macmillan Sprint

Irish raider CHICAGO POPE (3.35) has just the right profile for the big race on York's popular charity day. This sharp 6f looks perfect for this improving three-year-old. He showed loads of pace when landing a Naas maiden over this trip on his final run of last season and he chased home Oh Cecelia at Cork on his first start of this year. The winner of that race went on to run smart Havana Anna close in a Nass Group 3 sprint on her next start, so the form looks very solid.

Johnny Murtagh's runner again showed plenty of speed when making a successful handicap debut at Naas. He looks to have a nice draw in stall eight and should be in the right position at a track where prominently-ridden sprinters often have an advantage. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. A few bookies are paying out on six places.

Daydreama in the 2.25 at York

Earlier on York's card, DAYDREAMA (2.25) looks overpriced. He has made three trips to this course from Tim Easterby's North Yorkshire base and has run well each time. His second behind progressive Startled over this track and trip at last month's Dante Festival was even better than it looked as he had a wide draw. He also didn't get everything his own way when third in a valuable sales race here last October, as he stumbled at the start.

There seems to be an awful lot of early pace drawn in high stalls today. That could result in a frantic dash to get a position before the bend and it should set up nicely for his hold-up style of racing. Have 1pt each-way at 28-1. Several firms are offering six places.

Prince of the Seas in the Queen Mother's Cup

There appear to be several potential non-stayers in the Queen Mother's Cup for female amateur riders. PRINCE OF THE SEAS (1.50) isn't one of them. He won over today's 1m4f trip at Goodwood for Ralph Beckett last summer before moving to David O'Meara. He hinted at better to come at Ripon two weeks ago and he's got experienced Megan Jordan in the saddle. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1.
