Celtic are waiting on Torino to decide the future of Gvidas Gineitis, with the Serie A club weighing up their next big sale. The 23-year-old midfielder is back on the Hoops' radar as Arne Engels edges closer to leaving Parkhead.
Engels exit could fund move
West Ham have intensified their interest in the Belgian international, with an initial bid rejected by Celtic last week. The English Championship side are expected to return with an improved offer in the coming days.
Gineitis was previously considered by Celtic when Nottingham Forest had a £25 million bid rejected in January. Interest has now resurfaced, with the Lithuania international's agent revealing he has held talks about a potential move to Glasgow.
Agent claims player is 'ready'
While the player's representative claimed his client is "ready" to join Celtic, he noted that the Hoops have yet to submit an official offer for Torino to consider.
According to Sport Italia, a deal could depend on attacker Alieu Njie and a potential move to Crystal Palace. Torino are said to want to keep Njie despite interest from the Premier League club, and would consider "sacrificing" Gineitis to raise funds rather than sell to Palace.
Hassan prioritises Marseille
Celtic have also revived interest in Frosinone forward Fares Ghedjemis, with Rangers also making a bid for the Algeria international. However, hopes of signing Egypt World Cup star Haissem Hassan appear to be fading.
Celtic had been in talks over a deal for the Real Oviedo star, but the Spanish club are sticking to his £10 million release clause despite the winger having just a year left on his contract. Reports in France claim Marseille have reached an agreement with the player and are negotiating a fee with Oviedo.
Hassan has been training alone following the tournament as he pushes for a move, and it has been claimed he "refused offers from some clubs and is prioritising Marseille" - and is willing to wait for the Ligue 1 side.
