Bruno Guimaraes' father, Dick Gomez, has been spotted at a transfer event in Madrid, intensifying speculation about the Newcastle United captain's future.
Arsenal's formal offer for the Magpies skipper was swiftly rejected on Monday, but Newcastle are prepared for another bid, though it remains uncertain if it will meet the threshold required by St James' Park decision-makers.
Father and agent at TransferRoom
While Guimaraes trains with his teammates in La Manga, Spain, his father posted a picture on Instagram from TransferRoom in Madrid, alongside the player's agent, Alexis Malavolta.
TransferRoom brings together over 300 club owners, sporting directors, chief executives, loan managers, and agents from more than 40 countries for four days of intensive meetings and networking, as reported by Mail Online.
Transfer speed dating
Described as the transfer equivalent of speed dating, clubs pitch their players to interested parties. One Premier League executive told Mail Online: "The room is set out like a GCSE exam. You have about 16 slots per day, and you go through the attendees and request to meet them, the system fills up all of your spots as you accept or are accepted."
He added: "All the tables are numbered, and you get your own programme and each meeting is on a different table. There's a giant green digital clock usually hanging on the wall that counts down and when the bell rings three times, it's time to move on. Ding, ding, ding. Off you pop to the next table, the next meeting."
The executive also noted: "There's two packages. Basic membership costs about £20,000 and the full is about £35,000. The difference is what you have access to. That means access to pitch as many players as you want, reply to as many pitches as you want and access to add-on tools, getting deeper insight to things like player statistics."
Past deals and current situation
Viktor Gyokeres' move from Coventry City to Sporting Lisbon in 2023 was negotiated at TransferRoom, and Antoine Semenyo's transfer from Bristol City to Bournemouth is another success story from the event.
Guimaraes' father and agent were representing the Next Gen Brazil agency, which they co-own. The 28-year-old has two years left on his Newcastle deal, and the Magpies have insisted all summer he is not for sale at the prices mentioned in the capital.
