Barcelona have been accused of using interest in Osasuna winger Victor Munoz as a smokescreen to drive down the price for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford. Reports in Spain claim the Catalan club hope to secure a discount on the £26million option to sign Rashford permanently this summer.
According to Navarre newspaper Diario de Noticias, Barcelona's alleged pursuit of Munoz is intended to put pressure on Rashford's camp. The 22-year-old scored on his senior Spain debut, but Real Madrid hold 50 per cent of his rights, making a move to the Camp Nou all but impossible. Osasuna's board view the interest as a bargaining chip.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has been banished from training by Monterrey after throwing a tantrum when left on the bench. The 30-year-old, who moved to Mexico in September, showed visible frustration after youngster Joaquin Moxica was brought on ahead of him in a 3-2 defeat to Chivas.
Manager Nicolas Sanchez has reportedly told Martial to stay away from training for the remainder of the week as punishment. The Frenchman took 12 league games to score his first Monterrey goal, which came in a 5-1 win over Mazatlan in January. Monterrey currently sit ninth in the clausura standings and have been eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
