The US Open has been hit by a wave of high-profile withdrawals, with Emma Raducanu and seven other players pulling out of the final Grand Slam of the season.
Raducanu's recovery continues
Raducanu, who made history five years ago by winning the title as a qualifier, will miss the event as she recovers from a stress fracture in her right leg. The world No. 49 has not played since being forced out of Wimbledon, and her absence means she has been off the match court for around two months.
Other notable absentees
Ajla Tomljanovic, who reached the quarter-finals in 2022 and ended Serena Williams' career during that run, has also withdrawn after ending her season early. She was replaced in the draw by Ella Siedel. Sebastian Korda, who has not played since March due to a back injury, underwent surgery and will miss the tournament, with Aleksander Vukic taking his place.
Irina-Camelia Begu, who returned from a nine-month break in May, suffered fractures in two toes after an accident and has been replaced by Elsa Jacquemot. Victoria Mboko, who won her home tournament in Montreal in 2025, has been sidelined since June with an MCL injury.
Hailey Baptiste tore her ACL at the French Open, ending her career-best season, while Varvara Gracheva also ruptured her ACL in March. Sonay Kartal, a Brit who reached the second week of Wimbledon last year, has been out since March with a back injury.
