Kompany still in hospital after training collapse

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany remains in hospital five days after collapsing at the club's training ground, with reports indicating that medical staff are investigating possible neurological concerns.

The former Manchester City defender was taken to a Munich hospital by air ambulance after the incident during a training session last Friday. According to Bild, Kompany also dislocated his shoulder in the fall.

Medical Investigations Underway

The Belgian's medical team have reportedly been examining possible neurological issues during his time in hospital. Bild suggests that Kompany has experienced seizures since the collapse, although the condition is not considered life-threatening, with both a heart attack and stroke having been ruled out.

Kompany has been away from the sidelines since overseeing Bayern's Champions League draw with Arsenal last week. The 40-year-old is not expected to return to management duties for several weeks while his recovery continues.

Positive Signs and Support

Caretaker boss Aaron Danks commented on Tuesday: "It looks like he's getting better every day. That's positive. (But) there is no major news regarding his diagnoses or his return to work."

Harry Kane, who won the Ballon d'Or under Kompany's leadership at the Allianz Arena, revealed he had spoken with the Belgian before the award ceremony. Kane said: "He actually phoned me, phoned me bright and early at 9am (Monday). I was just out of bed thankfully, so I was able to answer it. But no, he just wanted to wish me all the best, good luck. I asked him how he was doing, he said he feels good, he feels like he's on the mend. I know he's the type of character who just wants to be back with the team already."

During his hospital stay, Kompany is understood to have received visits from several senior figures at the club, including president Herbert Hainer, sporting director Max Eberl, and honorary president Uli Hoeness.
