Tennis Player Confronts Fan in Rome, Umpire Intervenes

A match on the ATP Challenger Tour in Rome descended into chaos when Bosnian tennis player Nerman Fatic squared up to a fan, forcing the umpire to intervene. The incident occurred towards the end of the first set during Fatic's match against Taiwan's Tseng Chun-hsin.

The tension began when Chun-hsin's drop shot clipped the net, resulting in a fortunate deflection that bounced twice before Fatic could return it. Some spectators cheered the lucky bounce, which appeared to anger Fatic. The 31-year-old walked towards the crowd, exchanging angry words with a specific fan.

The umpire shouted 'calma' over the microphone and left his chair to separate the player and the spectator. The confrontation lasted about 30 seconds before Fatic was escorted back to his position. Despite the disruption, Fatic went on to win both the set and the match.
