Tartan Army Predictions: Scotland vs Morocco

Boston's Tartan Army have shared their predictions ahead of tomorrow's match against Morocco. With four points expected to be enough to qualify, the Tartan Army have given their verdict on whether Scotland can get a result against Morocco.

The Tartan Army have been buoyant in Boston since Steve Clarke's men defeated Haiti 1-0 on Saturday night, but the nerves are starting to creep in ahead of tomorrow's match against Morocco.

John McGinn and co will return to the Gillette Stadium for their second match at the 2026 World Cup on Friday, June 19, knowing that a point would all but guarantee a first ever knockout tie at an international tournament.

However, it will be almost 28 years to the day from the only previous time Scotland have faced Morocco - a 3-0 defeat at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Étienne. That result ended Scotland's chances of progressing from the group stage at the 1998 World Cup and marked the country's last match at a major tournament for 23 years.

But the Tartan Army aren't letting that dampen the spirits, as cautious optimism is spreading around Boston ahead of the game. The Record spoke with a number of revellers in the city to get their predictions for how things will go tomorrow.

No one was expecting miracles from Steve Clarke, but most felt Scotland could get a positive result, and some even thought another three points were possible.

Daniel Wales, who travelled to the United States with wife Yasmine, said: "To be fair, I think it suits us, playing a team like that. I think the way that we play suits that more than Haiti, so I can see it being a bit of a backs-to-the-wall 0-0." Yasmine was similarly hopeful: "I don't know that much about football if I'm honest. Hopefully they will, but 0-0."

Graham Kerr was out in Boston with wife Carla and their children Elsie and William. He said: "I would like to think we can get at least a point out of the last two games, and I think four points with this current World Cup set up is probably going to guarantee you into the next round."

Davy Bowman, Jay Doherty, David McCurry, and Andy Macfarlane have travelled to Boston for the match and were a little more optimistic, with one even plumping for a win against a Morocco side ranked seventh in the world. Jay said: "Best chance we'll ever have. I'd even take a draw, 1-1, and I'm happy." David added: "I said 1-0." Davy said: "I see it being a draw."

Mac Daniels and Reece Docherty also felt Scotland could get something from the game and progress from the group stage at the ninth time of asking. Pointing to the talent in the Scotland team, Mac said: "So many talismans in that team. Grant Hanley, McGinn, McTominay." Reece added: "If we can get a point off of them or Brazil, it will really just secure it, and I think we can do it because they are not looking the best at the moment either. Yeah, it's got to happen."
