Jannik Sinner produced a ruthless display to defeat Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 and reach his first Wimbledon final, before Carlos Alcaraz overcame Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (6) to set up a repeat of last month's French Open final.
Sinner, the world No 1, extended his winning run against Djokovic to five matches and has not lost to the 24-time grand slam champion since 2023. The Italian is the sixth player in the Open era to reach four consecutive men's singles grand slam finals, joining Roger Federer, Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi and Rod Laver.
Djokovic, who skipped practice on Thursday after a heavy fall in his quarter-final win over Flavio Cobolli, admitted afterwards that he hopes to return to Wimbledon at least one more time. The 38-year-old said he is trying to make the maximum out of what he has left and that he can still play good tennis when fit.
Alcaraz's victory over Fritz was harder fought, with the Spaniard dropping the second set before recovering to win in a fourth-set tie-break. The win means Alcaraz and Sinner will contest the men's finals at both the French Open and Wimbledon in consecutive years, a feat previously achieved by Nadal and Federer between 2006 and 2008.
Sinner, who suffered a devastating loss to Alcaraz in the French Open final after holding triple championship point, now has the chance to win his first grand slam title away from hard courts. The final takes place on Sunday, with the women's final between Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova scheduled for Saturday.
