Savinho in £60m Tottenham Talks as City Winger Seeks Game Time

Savinho is seeking more first-team football next season as talks continue over a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Brazilian winger, currently at Manchester City, is open to a transfer a year after a similar switch to north London collapsed.

Talks Revived After Previous Collapse

Standard Sport reported last month that Spurs had renewed their interest in the 20-year-old, who was a serious target under former head coach Thomas Frank last summer. However, an agreement over a fee could not be reached at the time, with City holding firm on a £70 million valuation that Spurs deemed too high.

Now, negotiations have resumed, and it is expected that a fee in the region of £60 million, including add-ons and bonuses, would be required for the move to materialise. Savinho signed a new contract at City in October, which runs through to summer 2031, but his desire for more playing time could prompt a departure.

Limited Opportunities at City

Last summer, City planned to reinvest the transfer fee by signing a replacement, but when talks broke down, Savinho remained at the club. Instead, City signed Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in January for £65 million. Semenyo, along with Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku, enjoyed fine form in the second half of the season, further limiting Savinho's chances of earning the game time he wanted.

Playing more regularly is the winger's priority as he weighs up his options for next season. While it is understood that he wishes to leave City to play more, the expected arrival of manager Enzo Maresca as Pep Guardiola's replacement adds an element of uncertainty. It remains unclear how highly Maresca rates Savinho and whether the Brazilian's place in the first-team pecking order would change under new leadership.

Season Stats and International Snub

Savinho spent this season on the fringes of Guardiola's squad, starting just 14 matches and producing six goal contributions. His limited impact was reflected in his omission from Brazil's 26-man World Cup squad by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Savinho's future remains a topic of intense speculation, with Tottenham leading the chase for his signature.
