Prince Harry appeared on After Hours with James Corden and gave his opinion on England's World Cup semi-final performance. When asked what it would take for England to reach a World Cup final, Harry reflected on the team's defeat to Argentina, saying: "I have to be very careful what I say here. What’s it gonna take? It’s a mindset. I think that what we saw was a slight shock value for the team. We’re one-nil up against Argentina, and then there was this immediate temptation to fall into defence. I don’t think it was a tactic; I don’t think that was the plan. It just happened."
Harry's Analysis of the Match
Harry added: "You can’t in 72, 73 minutes, however long it was, you can’t defend a one-nil lead against a team like that." He made these comments alongside former England defender Rio Ferdinand, who suggested the duke join him on his podcast.
Invictus Games 2029 Announcement
Separately, after his appearance on the American show, Harry hailed the announcement that South Korea will host the 2029 Invictus Games as an "exciting new chapter in our journey." Harry, who founded the Paralympic-style event to aid the recovery of wounded and sick military veterans and those still serving, said the project was "excited" to work with the city of Daejeon.
In a statement, the Duke of Sussex said: "Today's announcement is a defining moment for the Invictus Movement. We are delighted to announce Daejeon, South Korea as the host of the 2029 Invictus Games and, on behalf of the Invictus Games Foundation, we are so excited to work together. As the first Asian nation selected to host the Games, the Republic of Korea represents an exciting new chapter in our journey to ensure that more wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans can benefit from the power of sport and the strength of the Invictus community."
