Former East Kilbride coach aids Scotland World Cup bid

Former East Kilbride FC coach Mark McKenna is playing a key role in Scotland's World Cup campaign. McKenna, who served as assistant manager at K-Park in 2023 and with the under-20s in 2022, is now the Performance Analysis Manager at the Scottish FA and part of Steve Clarke's backroom team.

McKenna's Journey to the World Cup

McKenna has also worked with Raith Rovers and St Cadoc's, but his current focus is on Scotland's group stage matches against Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil in the United States. This will be his third major tournament with the national side, following Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.

During Scotland's dramatic 4-2 qualifying win over Denmark, McKenna was seen celebrating with Clarke and assistant Steven Naismith at Hampden Park. Scotland's World Cup opener against Haiti kicks off at 2am on Sunday at Boston Stadium.

Warm-Up Success

In the final warm-up match, Scotland defeated Bolivia 4-0 in New Jersey, with goals from Che Adams (2), Scott McTominay, and Lawrence Shankland. McKenna watched from the dugout as the team built momentum for the tournament.

Scotland is at the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, aiming to become the first Scottish squad to advance past the group stage. McKenna's analysis work will be crucial as Clarke's side seeks to make history in the United States.
