Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Sipke Hulshoff are set to reunite at Feyenoord just days after leaving Liverpool. Van Bronckhorst is poised to become the new Feyenoord manager, with Hulshoff as his assistant.
Departure from Liverpool
Both coaches were casualties of Arne Slot's dismissal last week. They departed Anfield as Liverpool began a new chapter under Andoni Iraola. Van Bronckhorst and Hulshoff have quickly secured new roles, returning to the Netherlands.
Van Bronckhorst's Career
Van Bronckhorst progressed through Feyenoord's youth system and debuted professionally in 1993. He later managed the club 11 years ago, winning the KNVB Cup and the Eredivisie title. He also managed Rangers, reaching the Europa League final, and had a brief stint at Besiktas.
Hulshoff's Role
Hulshoff served as Slot's assistant at Feyenoord before moving to Liverpool. He will now resume that role under Van Bronckhorst.
Replacing Robin van Persie
Van Bronckhorst succeeds Robin van Persie, who was sacked last week after one season. Van Persie led Feyenoord to second place but finished 19 points behind champions PSV. Technical director Devy Rigaux cited a downward trend in performances as the reason for the change.
