Somerset's hopes of a first County Championship title remain alive after an innings victory over Glamorgan, while Surrey escaped the relegation zone with a one-wicket win at the Oval.
Somerset close in on title
With three rounds remaining, Somerset sit top of Division One after bowling Glamorgan out before tea. Jack Leach, Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory each took three wickets, with Asa Tribe and Sean Dickson offering the main resistance with forties.
Warwickshire remain close behind after dismissing Hampshire for 115 and 154 to win by an innings at Southampton. Chris Woakes removed both openers cheaply in the second innings, while Manav Suthar took four wickets.
Surrey survive late drama
At the Oval, Surrey chased 185 to beat Yorkshire by one wicket and leapfrog them out of the relegation zone. Ollie Pope made 12 and Ben Foakes fell to Ben Coad before lunch, but Josh Blake's 43 off 183 balls held one end together while the tail scored at the other.
With eight wickets down and eight runs needed, Auqib Nabi hit Coad for six but was out next ball. Ten scoreless deliveries followed before Dan Worrall hit the winning boundary.
Lancashire slump and Nottinghamshire held
Lancashire lost seven for 39 while chasing 297 against Middlesex, who won with Tom Helm taking four for 36. George Balderson had earlier taken five for 54 for Lancashire.
Nottinghamshire were held up by Leicestershire nightwatchman Josh Hull, who batted for more than five hours for 97 before being dismissed.
