Globetrotting star Rebel's Romance is tipped to secure a 22nd career victory in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting on Thursday, according to Daily Star chief tipster Jason Heavey.
Rebel's Romance: A veteran at his peak
Trained by Charlie Appleby, the eight-year-old has won 21 of his 31 starts, with triumphs in Dubai, America, Hong Kong, Qatar, Germany, and Britain. While he has narrowly missed in Group One races at home, Heavey believes there is no sign of decline. The only concern is his fitness after a break since winning in Dubai in February, but he is expected to overcome that in the Group Two contest.
Thunder Call and Del Maro also fancied
Heavey's second selection is Thunder Call (3.00), trained by William Haggas, in the Betway Handicap. The three-year-old impressed at York last month and is expected to confirm superiority over Red Spells Danger. Earlier, Del Maro (1.50) represents Appleby in the Group Three Bahrain Trophy Stakes. Despite only one win in eight starts, the Camelot colt showed promise when narrowly beaten in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot.
Adaay In Scarlet and Count Bezukhov
In the Group Two Kingdom Of Bahrain July Stakes (2.25), Adaay In Scarlet gets the nod over Inner City Blues, having run well at Royal Ascot. At Doncaster, Count Bezukhov (2.45), trained by Joseph O'Brien, is the only Irish runner and carries a 6lb penalty but impressed on his second start at the Curragh.
Nap selection at Newbury
Heavey's nap of the day is Storm Point (7.27) at Newbury, trained by Ed Walker, who won over course and distance last month and is expected to follow up.
