Arthur Fery has become the breakout star of Wimbledon 2026, storming into the semi-finals as a British wildcard. The 23-year-old, who grew up within walking distance of the All England Club, has captivated fans with his composure and grit. He faces world No. 3 Alexander Zverev on Centre Court on Friday.

How Fery Reached the Semi-Finals

Fery's remarkable run began with victories over Damir Dzumhur and Otto Virtanen. He then defeated Belgium's Zizou Bergs in a five-set battle lasting over four-and-a-half hours, during which he suffered three nosebleeds. He followed that with another five-set win against former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov. In the quarter-finals, he beat Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 7-6, 6-0.

The Wimbledon crowd has embraced him, chanting 'Here comes the Fery' as he extended his fairytale run.

Nosebleeds: A Persistent Issue

Fery's nosebleeds during the Bergs match became a talking point. Play was repeatedly stopped for medical attention. 'I've had nosebleeds since I was young,' Fery explained. 'When it's hot and dry, it tends to happen more often.' Nosebleeds are common among athletes in hot, dry conditions due to heavy breathing and dehydration.

Ranking and Background

Born in France and raised in south-west London, Fery represented Great Britain. He trained at Westside Tennis Club, attended King's College School in Wimbledon, and later studied Science, Technology and Society at Stanford University on a tennis scholarship. He was coached by former ATP player Paul Goldstein and the Bryan brothers.

Fery entered Wimbledon ranked world No. 114. After his semi-final run, he has risen to 36th in the live rankings and could reach as high as 13th.

Wealthy Family Background

Fery's father, Loïc Fery, is a French businessman and hedge fund manager worth an estimated £275 million. He owns French football club FC Lorient through his investment company Chenavari. His mother, Olivia, is a former professional tennis player who competed in the French Open doubles and later worked for the Lawn Tennis Association.

Despite his privileged background, coaches describe Fery as dedicated, down-to-earth, and self-reliant.

Wimbledon Earnings

Fery has earned £900,000 from his Wimbledon run, surpassing his previous career earnings of under £650,000. The semi-final match against Zverev offers another £900,000, and the winner's prize is £3.6 million, a 20% increase from last year.

Personal Life

Fery keeps his private life low-key. He was previously linked to food content creator Honor Millard, known as 'The Honorable Chef', but is understood to be single. Millard jokingly acknowledged the media attention on Instagram: 'Welcome to all my new Daily Mail friends.'
