Wales have strengthened their coaching team ahead of the summer internationals by bringing in former Scotland defence specialist Steve Tandy. The move comes as Warren Gatland's side prepare for challenging fixtures against Argentina and Japan.
Tandy, who previously worked with Scotland from 2020 to 2022, will join Wales on a short-term basis for these matches. His defensive expertise is expected to be invaluable against two attacking-minded opponents.
Proven Track Record
The 43-year-old coach boasts an impressive CV, having helped Scotland achieve notable defensive improvements during his tenure. His work with the British and Irish Lions during their 2021 tour of South Africa further enhanced his reputation as one of rugby's top defensive minds.
Summer Challenge Ahead
Wales face Argentina in Cardiff on July 6 before travelling to Tokyo to take on Japan on July 13. These matches form part of Wales' preparations for the 2024 Six Nations championship.
Gatland said: "Steve brings a wealth of experience and fresh ideas that will complement our existing coaching group perfectly for these important fixtures."
The appointment continues Wales' trend of bringing in specialist coaches for specific campaigns, following similar arrangements with other technical experts in recent years.
