The World Cup group stage match between the United States and Australia experienced an unusual delay during the closing stages when referee Felix Zwayer went down with cramp.
Referee Receives Treatment on the Pitch
Play was halted as the German official received medical attention. His assistant referee helped him stretch his leg, and fourth official Katia Garcia brought what appeared to be an energy drink onto the field.
The stoppage lasted a couple of minutes. Zwayer was able to continue and finish the match, receiving a large cheer from the predominantly American crowd when he signaled he could carry on.
