Wales flanker Jac Morgan says he is honoured by the praise from former Wales team-mate Dan Biggar, who recently said Morgan would be one of the first names on the teamsheet for a British and Irish Lions Test right now. Morgan, however, insists he is focused on improving his performances for club and country.
Honoured by Biggar's comments
Speaking ahead of Saturday's clash with Japan, Morgan said: "It's a big honour to hear something like that from Dan given everything he's given to the Welsh jersey. I was fortunate enough to play with Biggs as well. He was great to me when I was younger and to be able to play with him was brilliant. It's an honour to hear something like that from him. But I've got to just try and concentrate on the here and now, and playing the best I can."
Morgan, 26, made the move from the Ospreys to Gloucester over the summer and has made a strong start at the English club. He has made six appearances for Gloucester so far, scoring two tries.
Enjoying life at Gloucester
Having made the decision to leave Wales, Morgan says he is enjoying life at Kingsholm. "It's been good," he added. "It's been a nice new challenge. There's a good group of boys there and a good group of coaches. I really enjoyed the start of the season and playing there."
When pressed on where his game has improved since the move, Morgan said: "I'm always trying to get better, even when I was back at the Ospreys. But I feel I have the opportunity to be on the ball a little bit more. Being able to carry more, and in attack. I think that's a big, big focus point with us. So being able to try and get on with ball in hand has been a big focus point to try and get better, and obviously all the other bits as well."
Attacking edge in the Premiership
Morgan believes the Premiership is home to a more attacking brand of rugby compared to the URC, which he says aligns more with the general direction of the game at the top level. "I'd probably say so," he said when asked if he felt there was more of an attacking edge to the game in England. "I found that during this first block that there's a more attacking mindset. There's a lot more attacking [in the game overall now]. Kicking is still a big part of the game. But there's a lot more attacking involved in a lot of clubs and international teams."
