Harry Kane's expected date to break Ronaldo's goal record

Harry Kane is projected to break Cristiano Ronaldo's record for the most goals scored in international football at Euro 2032 in Italy and Turkey, according to calculations based on his current scoring rate for England.

Kane equalled Peter Shilton as England's highest appearance maker of all time in Tuesday's victory over the Czech Republic. The Bayern Munich striker now has his sights set on Ronaldo's tally after scoring a brace at Wembley, taking him to 91 goals in 125 caps for his country. Ronaldo currently sits on 146 international goals for Portugal.

Scoring projections and timeline

Kane currently boasts a goals-per-game ratio of 0.728 for the Three Lions. With 56 goals needed to surpass Ronaldo's tally, he is projected to require around 77 more games to do so.

England play around 12 to 14 international matches each year, with their schedule becoming increasingly packed towards the end of the decade. They will compete in the UEFA Nations League next year, before hosting Euro 2028 on home soil and then heading to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Portugal and Spain.

Ronaldo's future in doubt

With Ronaldo's international future in doubt following a falling-out with manager Jorge Jesus, Kane has a clear marker to become the international game's most prolific goalscorer. If he continues his current career scoring average for England, and Ronaldo does not score again for his country, Kane will overtake the former Manchester United forward's tally at the start of the next decade.

According to projections, Kane is expected to break the record at Euro 2032, which will run from June 11 until July 11 - just 17 days before Kane's 39th birthday. The tournament is expected to see Kane surpass 200 games for England and cement his status as the greatest player to represent the country.
