Celtic were controversially denied a second goal in their 1-0 win over St Johnstone because the ball left the camera frame before Kasper Hogh appeared to keep it in play, leaving VAR unable to intervene.

The Hoops extended their perfect start to the season with victory in Perthshire, courtesy of Mika Baur's first goal for the club. However, many Celtic supporters felt the margin of victory should have been greater after Haissem Hassan's 66th-minute strike was ruled out.
The controversy arose when Sebastian Tounekti chipped the ball towards the back post, with Hogh heading it back across goal for Hassan to convert. Referee Matthew MacDermid ruled that the ball had left the field of play before Hogh kept it alive, awarding a goal-kick to St Johnstone.
VAR limitations
Replays on social media appeared to show Hogh had kept the ball in play, but VAR was unable to rule on the incident because the ball left the frame at the top right of the screen between Tounekti's cross and Hogh's contact. As a result, the on-field decision stood.
During Sky Sports' coverage, Chris Sutton said: "The ball goes out of the picture for a second... maybe it curled heavily back in." He later posted on social media: "Clean sheet and another big 3 points for Celtic. Frustrating final ball in the first half. Got there in the end. Baur neat and tidy with the all important goal. Maybe unfortunate not to win by more after a baffling decision by the assistant when he thought the ball went out…"
Lead commentator Ian Crocker later clarified: "Because the ball went out of the camera frame, VAR had to stick with the on-field decision."
