Steve Borthwick has been appointed as England's new head coach on a five-year contract, succeeding Eddie Jones. The 43-year-old former Leicester Tigers boss aims to revitalise the national team and bring back the passion of the fans.
Borthwick signed the deal after leaving Leicester, with Kevin Sinfield also departing the club to become England's defence coach. Borthwick is set to recruit the rest of his backroom team in the coming weeks.
His immediate priority is preparing for the 2023 Six Nations, which begins against Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday 4 February. Borthwick said: 'What I want to do is make sure that this team is one that uses that power to get kids to fall in love with the game.'
Borthwick previously worked as England's forwards coach under Jones and was assistant coach for Japan before the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He captained England in 2008 and was part of the 2003 World Cup-winning squad.
