Four-time Olympic gold medallist Ariarne Titmus has been spotted enjoying a glamorous new chapter of her life, stepping out for a romantic date night at the Australian Open in Melbourne. The celebrated swimmer, who retired from the sport last year, beamed alongside her partner, investment analyst Mac Powell, as they took in a tennis match on Sunday.
A Stylish Night Out at Melbourne Park
The 25-year-old athlete looked effortlessly chic for the occasion, choosing a pale yellow halter-neck mini dress. She accessorised with an oversized, low-slung belt and a pair of elegant white patent heels, showcasing her athletic figure. Titmus completed the look with a designer shoulder bag and delicate gold hoop earrings.
Her Melbourne-based partner, Mac Powell, complemented her style in a smart-casual ensemble of a white dress shirt and dark jeans, finished with beige loafers. The pair appeared deeply content, sharing cosy moments before settling in to watch the game.
An Anniversary Celebration and a Life-Changing Decision
The outing held special significance for the couple, as it was at the Australian Open last January that they first made their romance public. This year's visit served as a sweet anniversary celebration, marking a full year since they went official.
Titmus's appearance comes after her surprising decision to retire from competitive swimming in 2024. At the time, she offered a vague explanation, stating that "some things in my life that have always been important to me are just a little bit more important to me now." She has since clarified that those priorities are her new love, Mac Powell, and her family.
Prioritising Personal Happiness Over Pool Glory
In a candid interview, the champion swimmer explained the reasoning behind her career bombshell. "In my personal life - and this was really the crux of the decision - you have to be quite a selfish person to be an athlete," Titmus told News Corp. She reflected on years of missing birthdays and family events, concluding she was no longer willing to put her loved ones second.
"I also met my partner right after the [Paris] Olympics. I wasn't willing to put that on the backburner," she added. Titmus emphasised that her complete set of achievements, including Olympic titles and world records, allowed her to walk away on her own terms. "Winning more medals wasn't going to change the way I feel," she stated.
Embracing her new life, Titmus has relocated from Queensland to Melbourne to live with Powell. She has also embarked on a television career and is set to appear in Channel Nine's upcoming reality series, SHARK!. "I'm enjoying life and I really love working in the TV space," she said, signalling a confident and happy step into her post-swimming future.
