The Red Bull star, who ultimately secured victory at the Circuit of the Americas, found himself genuinely challenged by both Lando Norris and rookie sensation Oscar Piastri throughout the weekend. Verstappen admitted the papaya-coloured cars had the outright pace to threaten his dominance.
"They were very quick," Verstappen conceded after the race. "In the race, they were definitely a bit quicker than I expected."
