Kimi Antonelli became the youngest winner of the Monaco Grand Prix at 19, holding his nerve through two late restarts to secure victory for Mercedes. The Italian led from pole position and built a 30-second advantage before a safety car and red flag erased it, forcing him to fend off Lewis Hamilton in a final standing start.
Antonelli controlled the race with calm precision, despite a slow getaway at the final restart. He held his line against Hamilton's Ferrari to take the flag, extending his winning streak to five races. Team principal Toto Wolff joined the podium ceremony for the first time in a decade to celebrate the teenager's performance.
The race was interrupted when Lance Stroll crashed at the final corner, followed by Charles Leclerc, both incidents caused by the track surface breaking up. Race officials halted proceedings for 35 minutes to repair the circuit before the dramatic standing restart.
Hamilton, who finished second, joked with Antonelli in the cool-down room: 'That's too many wins now, buddy.' The seven-time champion now trails Antonelli by 66 points in the championship standings, with George Russell falling further back after two penalties left him 13th.
Antonelli's victory broke Hamilton's record as the youngest Monaco winner, set in 2008 at age 23. The Italian now holds a commanding lead in the drivers' championship, with five consecutive wins this season.
