Mercedes F1 driver George Russell couldn't resist a cheeky dig at tennis superstar Novak Djokovic after spotting the 24-time Grand Slam champion mingling in the Silverstone paddock.
The British racing star, currently competing for Mercedes, joked about Djokovic's apparent interest in motorsport during the British Grand Prix weekend. "I saw Novak walking around with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff," Russell revealed with a grin.
From Court to Cockpit?
Russell humorously dismissed any potential career switch for the Serbian athlete: "I don't think we'll be seeing Novak in an F1 car anytime soon - he's got enough trophies in tennis!" The lighthearted comment came as Djokovic made a surprise appearance at the iconic British circuit.
Champions Collide
The meeting of two sporting greats created buzz in the F1 world, with Russell adding: "It's always special when athletes from different sports come together. Novak's achievements in tennis are incredible, but I think he should stick to what he's best at!"
While Djokovic has never publicly expressed serious ambitions to race in F1, his appearance with Wolff sparked playful speculation. Russell, currently battling for podium positions with Mercedes, clearly saw the funny side of the situation.
The British driver's comments came during a strong weekend for Mercedes at their home Grand Prix, where both Russell and teammate Lewis Hamilton showed competitive pace.
