Emma Raducanu has declared that she is 'back and better' after securing her place in the Queen's final. The British No. 1 achieved this by winning two matches in a single day, showcasing her resilience and skill on the grass courts of west London.
A Day of Double Victory
Raducanu, who has not dropped a set all week, defeated lucky loser Kamille Rakhimova and No. 6 seed Iva Jovic on Saturday to reach her third career final. This marks her first final on home soil, a significant milestone for the 23-year-old.
One Win Away from Second Title
The world No. 42 is now just one victory away from claiming her second career title, nearly five years after her stunning US Open triumph in 2021 as a teenage qualifier. Reflecting on her journey, Raducanu feels she has evolved into a 'new Emma' after learning valuable lessons from her experiences.
Raducanu will face lucky loser Donna Vekic in Sunday's final. She has a special plan to bring a specific group of fans back to the Queen's Club for the championship match, after they spurred her on to victory during the tournament.
Weather Woes and Commanding Performances
The week has been filled with waiting due to rain delays, including the cancellation of her quarter-final match on Friday evening. However, Raducanu has remained focused, beating Anna Blinkova, Sorana Cirstea, Rakhimova, and Jovic in commanding fashion.
With former coach Andrew Richardson, who guided her to the US Open title, back in her corner, Raducanu is feeling better than ever. She clarified: 'I wouldn't say it's necessarily the 'old Emma'. I think it's the new Emma because you take all of your lessons and experiences and all the ups and downs. You understand more of what's going on, what works for you, and that's it, yeah, I'm back and better.'
