Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are set to travel to Sydney next month for the Australian premiere of Disney's sequel “Freakier Friday.” The event will take place at Event Cinemas Westfield Bondi on Tuesday, August 5, presented in partnership with Westfield Bondi.
The 2003 original “Freaky Friday” saw Curtis and Lohan play mother and daughter Tess and Anna Coleman, who swap bodies after a magical mishap. The sequel picks up years later, with Anna now a mother to a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, setting the stage for another unexpected body swap.
Several cast members from the original film return, including Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. They are joined by new additions Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters.
The film marks 22 years since the original's release, which became a box office success and developed a strong following. Disney describes “Freakier Friday” as a “multigenerational twist” on the body-swap comedy. The official synopsis reveals that Tess and Anna discover “lightning might indeed strike twice” as they navigate the challenges of merging families. “Freakier Friday” opens in cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, August 7.
