JJ Gabriel and his family still 'have a preference' for the Manchester United talent to move to Spain after transfer meetings with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
The teenager has indicated he wants to leave Old Trafford due to a lack of first-team opportunities and reportedly could cost interested clubs a total package of £8.5million (€10m) to sign him up.
Pre-season hopes and requests
Gabriel featured during pre-season, with his family expecting him to take steps towards senior football this campaign. There had been hopes that he would receive at least 20 minutes in the Champions League fixture against Sabah and the Carabao Cup clash with Brighton, potentially paving the way for his Premier League debut on October 25.
Gabriel's representatives are also understood to have made four requests to United, including assurances over the number 77 shirt and permission for him to have 'Gabriel JR' printed on the back of his jersey. However, events have since taken a different turn, with the youngster's future at Old Trafford now in doubt.
Training alone and talks with European giants
Gabriel has subsequently become the focus of increasing controversy and is training alone in Barcelona as he seeks to obtain first-team football elsewhere. While Barcelona sporting director Deco has denied the club's interest in Gabriel, the teenager has previously travelled to Barcelona to receive a proposal from the Catalan outfit.
With numerous other prominent European clubs also observing his circumstances, it is understood that he initially visited France before travelling to Spain for discussions.
Spanish publication Sport has now disclosed further details of talks with Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG, including the reported demands put forward by Gabriel's family and super-agent Ali Barat. It is claimed that any club seeking to secure the youngster's signature would need to part with a minimum of £8.5m.
Proposed package and registration
The proposed package reportedly comprises a three-year contract worth in excess of €1m (£850,000) per season, agent commissions, compensation for his family, and a payment to United.
Should Gabriel put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement elsewhere, United could receive as little as £300,000 in compensation for the highly-regarded teenager. The forward has several European giants chasing his signature, but it's said that a move to Spain is still viewed as the No.1 option.
Gabriel's sole remaining tie to United is his Premier League youth registration, which can only be dissolved with the consent of all parties concerned. This means United, the player and his parent or legal guardian must all agree before the registration can be brought to an end.
Gabriel turned 16 on October 6 and holds a European Union passport, meaning he could be eligible to join a club within the EU. However, any potential transfer would still require FIFA approval, with stringent regulations governing international moves involving players aged under 18.
