Rangers have confirmed that striker Youssef Chermiti suffered an ACL injury during Sunday's Scottish Premiership defeat to Hibs, ruling him out for a significant period.
The 22-year-old Portuguese forward was stretchered off during the match at Easter Road. The injury came just hours after the club rejected a club-record £22 million bid from Galatasaray for the former Everton player.
Club statement confirms ACL injury
Rangers released a statement saying: "Following assessment, striker Youssef Chermiti suffered an ACL injury in Sunday's match with Hibernian. Youssef will be out of action for a significant period of time. Everyone at Rangers is with him as he begins his recovery."
Recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury typically takes six to 12 months, meaning Chermiti is likely to miss the entire season.
Manager to target new striker
The news is a major blow for manager Derek McInnes, who will now need to target another striker to cover the loss.
