Alisson Becker Ruled Out of Brighton Clash, Mamardashvili to Stand In

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been ruled out of Saturday's Premier League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion, with Giorgi Mamardashvili expected to deputise. The Brazilian missed the Champions League loss at Galatasaray earlier this month with a minor muscle problem, returned for the draw with Tottenham, and played in the midweek win over Galatasaray, but the club have deemed it too risky to field him at the Amex Stadium.

Alisson has been plagued by physical problems in recent seasons, sitting out 20 league matches over the past two campaigns. Mamardashvili has made five league appearances this term, covering for Alisson after a muscle complaint in September. The Georgia international is poised for a crucial outing as Liverpool aim to secure Champions League qualification.

Manager Arne Slot also confirmed that Mohamed Salah will miss the match after asking to be substituted against Galatasaray. Slot expressed hope that Salah's excellent fitness record would aid a swift recovery. Joe Gomez may be available but not to start. Alexander Isak, Conor Bradley, and Giovanni Leoni are also out, with Isak expected to return after the March international break.
