Matthias Jaissle confirms Tino Livramento and Joelinton injury blows before Liverpool visit
Jaissle confirms Livramento and Joelinton out for Liverpool visit

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has confirmed that Sunday's visit of Liverpool will come too soon for Tino Livramento to return to action. The England international full-back has been out with a calf injury picked up earlier this month that ruled him out of the World Cup, and he has not featured in any of the club's seven pre-season friendlies this summer.

Livramento was pictured back in first-team training on Wednesday, raising hopes about his potential return to the squad ahead of the visit of Andoni Iraola's side this weekend. However, Jaissle has dampened any expectations he will be involved in the game but admitted he is excited about working with the 23-year-old this term.

Jaissle on Livramento and Joelinton injuries

"For sure, too early [to return against Liverpool]," Jaissle said in his pre-match press conference. "He had just one training where he was partially involved. So we need to be smart with his progress now. We can't wait until he is 100% ready. He has huge potential and I love him."

Jaissle also confirmed that Joelinton will be missing for at least a couple of weeks but would not go into specifics about what the injury is that is ruling him out of action. "For sure out for a couple of weeks but I don't want to go too much in detail as there will always be specialists involved," the Newcastle head coach added. "The medical department is aware of it, we have top staff when it comes to that and I am really confident he will be back as soon as possible."

Dan Burn and Lewis Miley return to action

Dan Burn and Lewis Miley returned to action at the weekend for the first time in pre-season, with both players getting 45 minutes of action each in friendlies against Strasbourg and Bayer Leverkusen respectively. When asked if they are ready to complete 90 minutes against Liverpool if required, Jaissle told Chronicle Live: "This is something we need to see now in the next two or three days and how they adapt.

"I am really happy now they have played 45 minutes and now we want to progress fast without over-progressing. I would say we need to be smart when it comes to the load management but it looks good for now that there is progress to see and we will need to see now how long they will be on the pitch."
