Jordan Henderson was given oxygen and taken away on a stretcher after suffering an arm injury during England's post-match celebrations following their dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the World Cup last-16 clash at the Azteca Stadium.
Injury during celebrations
The Brentford midfielder, who had been celebrating with teammates in front of the travelling fans after goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane secured the win, was seen lying in apparent agony on the ground behind advertising hoardings. BBC coverage captured the incident as his teammates urgently signalled for medical assistance.
According to reports from the stadium, Henderson received immediate medical treatment on the pitch side before being carried off on a stretcher while receiving oxygen. The players formed a protective huddle around the veteran midfielder as medics attended to him.
England's victory and next match
Thomas Tuchel's side secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over tournament co-hosts Mexico, with Bellingham and Kane among the scorers. The team celebrated with fans by singing Oasis's 'Wonderwall', which has become their anthem for the tournament. England will now face Norway in the quarter-finals next week.
The severity of Henderson's injury is not yet known, but his availability for the quarter-final clash will be a concern for Tuchel.
