Mick Kennedy has admitted that Saturday's defeat to Hamilton Accies left him doing some 'soul-searching' after losing three league games in a row for the first time in his career.
The Kilby gaffer suffered a 1-0 defeat to derby rivals Accies at K-Park, following a 4-0 loss to Ross County and a 3-0 reverse at Montrose. His squad has been decimated by injuries during this spell, but he admitted it has been a bitter pill to swallow, leaving his side sixth in League One after enjoying a three-game unbeaten start.
Reflecting on the losing streak
Speaking to Lanarkshire Live Sport, Kennedy said: "That is the first time in my career I’ve lost three league games in a row so there was a lot of soul-searching on Saturday night!"
"But we need to put it into context; the injuries and the strength of the last two teams we have played. Those last two games would be a real test even at full strength and a lot went against us in the Montrose game."
Looking ahead to Peterhead
Kennedy is now hoping to return to winning ways when Peterhead visit on Saturday. He said: "At home, we should be confident against anyone so we look forward to Peterhead.
"Peterhead had a poor result by their standards on Saturday [a 3-0 loss at home to Montrose] but from what I have seen this season, teams set up differently against us and I am sure they will make it a very difficult game."
Midweek victory
Kennedy's side did return to winning ways on Tuesday night when they defeated Bonnyrigg Rose 3-1 in the KDM Evolution Trophy group phase. Goals from new signing Callum McKenzie, Craig McGuffie and Joao Balde delivered three points to take Kilby top of the standings in the 40-team league, boasting three wins from three.
