Tiger Woods' Recovery Slower Than Hoped, No Golf Return Date Set
Tiger Woods' recovery slower than hoped after surgery

Golfing icon Tiger Woods has provided a candid update on his physical condition, revealing that his recovery from major back surgery is progressing slower than he had anticipated.

Road to Recovery: A Patient Process

The 15-time major champion underwent disc replacement surgery in October 2025. He has now disclosed that his rehabilitation is not moving as quickly as he would like, which has forced him to avoid setting any firm date for a competitive return to the golf course.

Woods was only given medical clearance to start chipping and putting practice a mere six weeks after the operation, highlighting the significant nature of the procedure and the cautious approach being taken.

Future Plans: TGL and Beyond

While his outdoor schedule remains completely unplanned, Woods has expressed a hope to participate in the latter stages of the TGL, the new indoor simulator golf league. The TGL season is scheduled to conclude in early March.

As he approaches his 50th birthday in December 2025 – an age that would make him eligible for the PGA Tour Champions circuit – Woods has not committed to playing on the senior tour. Despite a career marred by serious injuries, his desire to compete again remains undimmed.

A New Role in Golf's Future

Alongside his rehabilitation, Woods is actively involved in shaping the sport's future. He has taken on a significant off-course responsibility as the chairman of the PGA Tour's Future Competition Committee.

This role indicates his continued deep investment in the game, even as his own playing future hangs in the balance following this latest surgical intervention.
