Former Belgium star Philippe Albert has said Nico Raskin is "wasting his time" at Rangers, and is baffled that no Premier League club made an offer for the midfielder.
The ex-Newcastle defender believes the 25-year-old has already proven he is good enough to make an impact in one of Europe's top leagues.
Besiktas and La Liga interest
Raskin was again linked with a Rangers exit in the summer, with Turkish giants Besiktas failing in a bid to sign the playmaker in the final days of the transfer window.
The midfielder was also touted as a target for La Liga duo Villarreal and Real Betis, but no deal materialised.
Albert's verdict
Speaking to La Capitale (via footnews.be), Albert said: "He has proven in recent years that he is a class above, that he is the best player at Rangers."
"I have respect for the Scottish league, but a player like Raskin is wasting his time there. The fact that he hasn't been transferred? I don't understand why no Premier League club has made an offer."
Albert, who appeared at both the 1990 and 1994 World Cup for Belgium, backed Raskin to recover from the transfer disappointment and perform for Rangers.
"He knows how to recover, as he showed at Standard, and he always delivers on the pitch," he added. "I have no worries about him.
"If he wants to keep his place with the Red Devils, he will have to play and accumulate match fitness."
