Manchester United have completed the signing of young Liverpool winger Isaac Konde, according to reports. The 16-year-old becomes the latest young talent to move to Old Trafford.
Scholarship and professional contract details
As reported by the Athletic, Konde has put pen-to-paper on a one-year scholarship with United. That will then turn into a five-year professional contract when he turns 17, the age where players can sign professional deals.
As is customary with youth transfers, United must now negotiate a compensation fee with Liverpool. The two clubs are said to be in discussions, with Liverpool anticipating a seven-figure sum.
Compensation talks and tribunal possibility
Should the two sides fail to reach an agreement, the matter will be referred to a Premier League tribunal to determine the amount United will pay their rivals.
Konde has been on Liverpool's books since joining as an under-nine back in 2018. He will link up with Darren Fletcher's Under-18s squad as he looks to hit the ground running at his new club. The youngster could potentially be viewed as a successor to JJ Gabriel, who has submitted a transfer request.
Karim Cassim also joins United
Another youngster to have joined United is Cassim, whose transfer was confirmed on Thursday. In an official club statement, United said: "Manchester United have agreed the signing of exciting youngster Karim Cassim.
"The England youth international has joined after leaving Manchester City. The 17-year-old was part of the City side that won the FA Youth Cup last season.
"On the international front, the central midfielder has been capped up to England's Under-17s. Everyone at the club would like to welcome Karim to United and we wish him the very best of luck."
The midfielder had already been spotted within United's youth setup, having been seen on the bench for the Under-18s during their fixture against Charlton last month. He follows David Eze in making the switch from Manchester City to Old Trafford.
