Liverpool and Chelsea alerted as Alex Scott January transfer gets green light

Bournemouth are open to selling Alex Scott in the January transfer window, with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool showing interest. The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined from Bristol City in 2023, has scored seven goals in 95 appearances for the Cherries.

Bournemouth's stance on Scott

According to BBC Sport, Bournemouth are willing to listen to offers in the region of £100m for Scott. The former Bristol City player rejected two new contract offers in the summer, but the club remained firm in keeping him at the Vitality Stadium despite an attempt from Chelsea.

Now, a fresh switch could be on the cards. Chelsea remain interested, while Liverpool are monitoring the situation. Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham were all thought to be interested in the summer but have shifted their focus elsewhere.

Potential stumbling block

One potential obstacle in any deal is Bournemouth's league position. If the Cherries are struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table, they may keep Scott to aid their survival and re-evaluate in the summer.

Scott is currently sidelined with a thigh injury picked up on international duty with England. Manager Marco Rose said at the time: "It's an injury from a muscle, and we'll do pictures [scans] in some days again. But we're going to miss him, for sure, for four or five weeks. I'm very disappointed and it's a big loss. We miss a very important player, but I don't want to blame anyone."

Contract and recent departures

Scott's current deal runs until the summer of 2028. Should he leave, he would become the latest high-profile player to depart Bournemouth in recent seasons. Antoine Semenyo, Ilya Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez and Dango Outarra all left last season, while Dominic Solanke departed for Spurs 12 months before. These exits have generated significant transfer profit for the club.
