Tommy Fleetwood Targets Dubai Glory After Life-Changing Move
Fleetwood's New Dubai Life Fuels Championship Bid

Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood is aiming for a triumphant home victory this weekend at the DP World Tour Championship, an event made profoundly more significant since he relocated his life to the United Arab Emirates.

A Home Game in the Desert

Fleetwood, 34, and his wife Clare, who is 23 years his senior and also his long-time manager, made the move to the UAE hotspot in early 2022. The couple, who married in 2017, have since settled into their new life in Dubai with their three sons, two of whom are Clare's from a previous marriage.

The world number four has spoken enthusiastically about his new home base as he prepares to compete at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, a course he describes as being 'just around the corner from home'. This geographical advantage adds a special layer to his quest for the title.

Career Highs from a New Home

Since the move to Dubai, Fleetwood's career has soared to new heights. After a wait of nearly 15 years, he finally secured his maiden PGA Tour victory at the Tour Championship in August 2025. This breakthrough win ended a record-breaking streak of accruing approximately £26 million in earnings without a tour title.

His form has continued to impress, playing a pivotal role in Team Europe's Ryder Cup victory in September, where he earned more points than any other player. He followed this team success with an individual win at the DP World India Championship the following month.

Family, Focus, and Future Goals

Fleetwood's connection to Dubai extends beyond the fairways. He has opened his own academy at Jumeirah Golf Estates and has become a vocal advocate for the growing golf scene in the region.

'You have iconic golf courses,' Fleetwood remarked last year. 'People watch tournaments played on these courses year-in, year-out and I think people are very, very passionate about the game. I think more golf courses will be built. I think more people will take up the game and I think it will keep growing here.'

As he enters the championship rounds, having twice finished as a runner-up in this event, Fleetwood is visualising victory. 'This is the last event I’ll play this year, and it’s been an amazing one,' he said. 'It would be incredible to finish it off with a win. My whole family is here... I can picture that winning moment on the 18th green; I know it so well.'

With his family supporting him from the sidelines and the comfort of sleeping in his own bed, Fleetwood is perfectly positioned to challenge for the £2.3 million winner's share of the £7.6 million prize fund, potentially capping off a transformative year with a landmark win on home turf.
