Luton Town manager Jack Wilshere was involved in a heated touchline confrontation with Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel after their League One match on Tuesday, which Luton won 2-1 at Kenilworth Road.
Goals from former Barnsley player Mads Anderson and Nahki Wells secured the victory for the Hatters, while Makenzie Kirk scored a consolation for the Tykes in the second half. Barnsley remain in the relegation zone.
What Happened at Full-Time
Wilshere and Stendel shook hands after the final whistle, but the former England midfielder then turned and shoved the Barnsley boss, pointing his finger at him, while Stendel appeared confused. Coaching staff and players became involved in a scuffle, though it was described as a minor incident.
When asked about the dust-up, Wilshere gave little away but said he has already moved on.
Both Managers Play It Down
Wilshere said: 'They want to win, we want to win, I've massive respect for them and what they're trying to do. I know they haven't got the results but I can see what they're trying to do and they're a tough team to play against, they've got some good players.'
He added: 'We got the win at the end and it gets a little bit heated but you shake hands at the end and everyone moves on.'
Stendel also sought to downplay the incident, saying: 'It was a misunderstanding between me and Jack Wilshere. But I tried to talk with him (after the game) and I think it's not a big thing.'
Luton's Reaction to the Win
The victory lifted Luton to 13th in League One. Wilshere said: 'Good three points. That's what we came for tonight. We knew we had to show courage. I thought the boys did that.'
He added: 'We played with real purpose. We arrived in dangerous areas. We had threat constantly. That being said, I thought we actually managed that period really well. So really happy for the players.'
