White House Press Secretary Backs Patriots Amid Trump Halftime Fury

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has publicly declared her support for the New England Patriots in this year's Super Bowl LX, while President Donald Trump continues his vocal criticism of Bad Bunny's upcoming halftime performance.

Leavitt's New England Loyalty

On Tuesday morning, Leavitt took to her Instagram story to share a post by coffee chain Dunkin' that featured a cheeky graphic supporting the Patriots. The Massachusetts-based chain created an image comparing Washington state, which reportedly has zero Dunkin' stores, with New England, home to 2,011 outlets.

The brand wrote across the graphic in its signature pink font: 'I wonder who we're rooting for,' clearly indicating their backing for the Patriots. Leavitt re-posted the image with the caption: 'This is so good @dunkin.'

Regional Roots and Sports Allegiance

Leavitt's support comes as no surprise given her background. She hails from Atkinson, New Hampshire, where the New England Patriots enjoy widespread popularity. Her Instagram page has previously shown support for other New England sports teams, including the Boston Red Sox.

The Patriots secured their Super Bowl spot following this weekend's NFL playoff games and will face the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Trump's Halftime Performance Criticism

Leavitt's social media post comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding the Super Bowl halftime show, with President Trump repeatedly criticising performers Bad Bunny and rock band Green Day.

In a recent interview with The New York Post, Trump stated: 'I'm anti-them. I think it's a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.'

Political Tensions and Musical Performers

Bad Bunny, who was Spotify's most listened-to artist globally in 2025, has been openly critical of Trump and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This has drawn backlash from the President and other politicians, including United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.

The Puerto Rican artist previously stated he avoided tour stops in the continental United States over concerns that ICE might target his concerts.

Super Bowl Attendance and Location

Trump confirmed to The New York Post that he would not be attending this year's Super Bowl, though he suggested he might if the location was 'a bit closer.' Last year, he attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, where the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs.

Interestingly, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, has publicly supported Trump over the years, adding another political dimension to the sporting event.

Ongoing Halftime Controversy

When Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime show headliner in October, Trump told Newsmax: 'I don't know who he is. I don't know why they're doing it — it's, like, crazy. They blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it's absolutely ridiculous.'

This year's Super Bowl is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 8, bringing together sporting spectacle, political commentary, and musical entertainment in what promises to be a highly charged event.
