Carrick 'aware' of viral Man United fan's haircut bet ahead of West Ham clash

Michael Carrick has admitted he is aware of the viral Manchester United fan who has refused to cut his hair until the club win five consecutive games. Frank Ilet, known online as 'The United Strand', has gained a large social media following for his unusual bet, which began under former manager Erik ten Hag.

Ilet has come close to a haircut twice before, but each time United fell short of the target. His latest opportunity comes as United have won four in a row, with a victory over West Ham on Tuesday night needed to complete the set.

Speaking ahead of the match, Carrick revealed he learned about the stunt through his children, but insisted it would not influence his team talk. 'I can say I'm aware of it, yeah,' Carrick told reporters. 'My kids have made me aware of it, if anything, but it certainly won't go into the team talk from a professional level.'

Carrick added that the bet 'does make me smile' but will have no impact on the outcome of the game. United face West Ham at the London Stadium aiming to make it five wins in a row and finally give Ilet the haircut he has been waiting for.
