Villa Close to £50m Onana Deal as Ipswich Sign Delap

Aston Villa are on the verge of completing a £50m transfer for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. The 22-year-old Belgium international joined Everton from Lille for £35m two years ago and made a full appearance at Euro 2024.

Onana started only two of Everton's final six Premier League games last season, both after safety was secured. The club is willing to sell as he is not considered integral to Sean Dyche's plans, though a sell-on fee is due to Lille. The sale will strengthen Everton's hand in retaining defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who is wanted by Manchester United.

Meanwhile, promoted Ipswich Town have signed striker Liam Delap from Manchester City on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old, who has had loan spells at Stoke, Preston and Hull, is Kieran McKenna's fourth summer signing. Delap expressed excitement about the club's style of play, describing it as 'quick and intense'.
