Klopp's first Premier League win as Liverpool manager also contributed to Mourinho's downfall. In October 2015, Liverpool came from behind to beat Chelsea 3-1, leaving the reigning champions in 15th place. Mourinho was sacked weeks later after further defeats.
The German also played a role in Mourinho's departure from Real Madrid in 2013. Klopp's Borussia Dortmund thrashed Madrid 4-1 in the Champions League semi-finals, leaving the Spanish side trophyless in Mourinho's final season. His exit was confirmed a month later.
Sunday's victory completed an unlikely hat-trick for Klopp, as Mourinho lost his job for the third time after a defeat to the German. The Portuguese manager has now been sacked by Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, with Klopp featuring prominently in each case.
