On Monday, Annie Leibovitz was present at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground, the practice facility for Major League Soccer's Atlanta United, to conduct a photoshoot. She spent an hour photographing four players on a turf field, with each participant receiving an autographed book from the 76-year-old photographer. The specific outlet that will publish these images has not been disclosed. Additionally, six American players were photographed on a grass field for Vogue magazine, further highlighting the team's visibility in fashion and media circles.
Extensive Promotional Commitments Strain Training Time
Beyond the Leibovitz session, players have been involved in a series of promotional activities during the current training camp. These include photo shoots for World Cup rights holders Fox and Telemundo, interviews with TNT Sports, which holds US Soccer Federation rights, and promotional preparations for USSF advertising and marketing partners. Players who missed the November training camp also had to be photographed in the new Nike uniforms designated for World Cup use.
US coach Mauricio Pochettino has expressed concern that these commitments are detracting from the team's focus on upcoming friendlies, such as the recent 5-2 loss to Belgium on Saturday and the match against Portugal scheduled for Tuesday. He emphasised the intense media demands since the players' arrival, noting that fatigue has impacted training sessions.

Pochettino contrasted this camp with previous sessions, such as those in November for matches against Paraguay and Uruguay, and October games against Ecuador and Australia. He recalled that in locations like Philadelphia, Tampa, Austin, and Denver, the team was able to concentrate solely on game preparation without the distractions of constant media engagements. The current schedule, however, has led to logistical challenges and reduced training time, making it difficult to maintain a consistent focus on tactical development and player readiness.
The coach highlighted the physical and mental toll on players, who have been required to balance promotional duties with their athletic responsibilities, underscoring the broader pressures faced by teams in the lead-up to major international tournaments like the World Cup.
